Percepción de los productores de maíz sobre los insectos plaga y su manejo en áreas de la parroquia Valle de la Pascua, estado Guárico, Venezuela

Abstract
The semi-structured interview method was used in 50 % of the producers in representative areas of corn variety INIA 605 in the community of Mahomito, southern part of the parish Valle de la Pascua, municipality Leonardo Infante, Guárico state, Venezuela during the production period 2012. Scaling of Likert and semantic differential method was used to determine the perception on the main pest management measures and to get the value of the attitude, when considering the diversity of capabilities of discrimination between the individuals interviewed. The statistical package Infostat, version 2.0 was used to analysis of multiple comparison of proportions. The producers of corn in the rural community of Mahomito preferred the variety INIA 605 and use of chemical products for the pest control associated with the crop. The main causal agents of pests associated with the crop were S. frugiperda, H. zea, and P. maidis.
