Abstract

The objective of this research was to assess for Trichoderma harzianum Rifai the spore harvest from three substrates by fluidized bed and cyclone and by vibratory sieving. The substrates assayed were mix of polished white rice and rice husk (Biopesticide B), unpolished broken rice (Biopesticide C) and polished broken rice plus broken unpolished rice (Biopesticide D). The greatest spore harvest yield was achieved by sieving the biopesticides previously milled. Contrary, the spore harvest yields for biopesticides processed by fluidized bed and cyclone were lower for the milled biopesticides. The biopesticide D, which was previously milled and sieved had the best yield with 86.8 % spore yield. The spore powder harvested showed internationally accepted microbiological quality parameters values and the spore concentrations resulted higher than1000 000 000 conidia • g-1 which allows to use it in fungi biopesticide formulation. The residues generated had accepted microbiological quality parameters values to commercialize. These results showed the importance of substrate composition for an efficient spore harvest from solid biopreparations. These spores have a longer shelf life compared to those obtained by submerged fermentation. In addition, the methods used here are the principles of operations of machines present in the market for assessing scaling-up for Trichoderma spore harvest.
