Phytosanitary surveillance of Raoiella indica Hirst (Acari: Tenuipalpidae) in the Villa Clara province, Cuba

Abstract
The red palm mite Raoiella indica Hirst it is a species invader that produces important damages in coconut tree, Musa species and ornamental palms, keeping before in mind it outlined and taking as data the obtained information of the survey carried out among the months of November to April and the surveillance carried out during the whole year in the period 2009-2016 were carried out this work that had as objective to evaluate the incidence of this species in the province Villa Clara, Cuba. Monitoring 75.9 % of quadrants, R. indica it was intercepted in eight of the thirteen municipalities that compose the province. May, August and September were the months with bigger percentage of effectiveness of the sampling. They were also intercepted other 18 species belonging to eight families and two orders among them Bdella ueckermanni Hernandes, Daud & Feres and Armascirus taurus (Kramer) which register as new for the acarofauna in the province.
