Los enemigos naturales de Aceria guerreronis keifer (acari: eriophyidae) en Cuba y sus perspectivas para el manejo de la plaga
Main Article Content
Abstract
The mite Aceria guerreronis Keifer constitutes one of the pests that cause the greatest damages to yields and quality on coconut tree. Its extensive distribution in North and South America, Asia and Africa practically makes this eriophyd a worldwide problem, mainly in those countries which are major producers of coconut. Different studies were carried out to characterize the natural enemies of A. guerreronis and also to assess the perspectives of their use in the management program against this pest. Main biological controls of this mite in Cuba were Neoseiulus paspalivorus (De León), Tarsonemus sp., Entomobrya sp., Hirsutella thompsonii var. thompsonii Samson, McCoy and O’ Donnell, Hirsutella thompsonii var. sinematosa Samson, McCoy and O’ Donnell and Hirsutella nodulosa Petch. among other predatory mites. Some considerations about natural enemies found and their participation according to the agro ecological conditions of each area are presented.
