Main Article Content
Abstract
This study was carried in order to identify the white grubs species associate to maize crop, and their relation with agroclimatic characteristics and crop management, in Los Altos de Jalisco, México. White grub (291) larvae from nine crop lands were collected in three agroclimatic zones and information about soil and climatic conditions was obtained. The species of white grubs found, and their relative occurrence were: Phyllophaga dentex (Bates) (27.0%), P. ravida (Blanch.) (27.1%), Cyclocephala lunulata (Burn) (19.9%), C. comata (Bates) (9.6%), C. lurida coahuilae (Bates) (4.8%), P. polyphylla (Bates) (4.1%), P. vetula (Horn) (3.1%), P. fulviventris (Moser) (2.7%), P. obsoleta (Blanch.) (2.1%) and Anomala sp. (1.0%). Ten species were found in the tempered humid, seven in the tempered subhumid and only one species in the tempered dry zone. Some white grubs species were correlationed with agroclimatic characteristics and crop management factors with probability of P > 0.05 and P > 0.01.
