Introducción de la avispa de costa de marfil Cephalonomia stephanoderis betrem (hymenoptera: bethylidae), parasitoide de la broca del fruto del cafeto Hypothenemus hampei ferrari (coleoptera: scolytidae) en Cuba
Main Article Content
Abstract
A total of 1 022 individual adults of Cephalonomia stephanoderis Betrem (Hymenoptera: Bethylidae) parasitoid were received in Cuba in May of 2003 from Mass Rearing Laboratories of Colegio de la Frontera Sur (ECOSUR) in Tapachula, Chiapas, Mexico. This introduction was realized for adapting the insects to Cuban climatic conditions and thus develope bio-ecologic studies, massive rearing in laboratories and their subsequent release and establishment in coffee areas affected by the pest Hypothenemus hampei Ferrari. The introduction was considered a success, since the analysis give out that the total death rate was to 6.75 % (male 31.1% and female 4.23% respectively), where the total index of journey survival was 93.2%.
