Abstract
The relations of climatic variables middle temperature, relative humidity and precipitations with population index of Epitrix hirtipennis (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae), and some behaviour characterictics as well as the biological cycle were analyzed from November of 2002 to March of 2003, in an experimental area of tobacco, variety Havana–2000, in the north zone of Las Tunas province. Also, the most important features of biological cycle of the specie were examined in laboratory conditions; in that sense differences in the inferior limit of the length ranks so as the duration of the life states. Life cycle duration was from 33 to 41 days, in natural conditions, meanwhile it was from 34 to 42 days in laboratory, with middle temperatures from 23.8 to 27.5 oC and relative humedity from 79 to 86%.
