Influencia de diferentes tipos de agar y del sellado de las placas sobre la pigmentación y el crecimiento micelial de las especies de fusarium

Abstract
It has been proven that the employment of carbohydrates rich media, nutrients variations, antibiotics use in culture media, bacterial contaminations presence and genetic changes introduced during the preservation of the strains, among others, affect the expression of important characters for the diagnosis of Fusarium species. Agar type used and Petri dishes sealing are elements shortly studied in this sense. With the aim of determining the influence of both the agar type and the sealing of Petri dishes on the expression of some important cultural characters for the diagnosis of Fusarium species, the influence of these characters in the pigmentation and the mycelial growth of the species of the genus were evaluated. The influence of agar type was determined with species F. chlamydosporum, F. incarnatum, F. subglutinans and F. ventricosum in potato sucrose agar No. 1, potato sucrose agar No. 3 and potato sucrose with industrial agar. The influence of the sealing of Petri dishes was determined with the most important phytopathogenic species F. moniliforme, F. oxysporum and F. solani. Since they are good producers of such a pigment F. incarnatum and F. chlamydosporum were included. Two variants were proven in PSA, one with parafilm to seal Petri dishes and the other without sealing. An appropriate pigmentation and good mycelial growth in the variants with agar No. 1 and agar No. 3 was obtained for the studied species. PSA with industrial agar medium was not appropriate for the uniform development of the cultural characters with diagnostic purposes. The sealing of Petri dishes caused a considerable decrease in the grade of pigmentation and the mycelial growth on PSA medium for the studied species.
