Zonificación de mocis latipes (guenee) (lepidoptera: noctuidae) en las empresas pecuarias de la provincia de las Tunas, Cuba

Abstract
A work for locate stationary fields with ecological criterion was realized in Las Tunas province in order to organize pastures plagues signaling. There were registered monthly averages of temperature (Max., Min. and Mean), relative humidity, accumulated rains, and also Mocis latipes indexes (larvas/m2) in 12 stationary pastures fields from seven cattle enterprises from 1983 to 1987. Files with plague population were identified by fields, enterprises and species of pastures. Significant differences were not observed in pasture species susceptibility to pest. In first discriminant analysis (climatic data), variables with major contribution to first component were mean and maxim temperatures (0.7946 and 0.7287 respectively) and precipitations, minimum temperature and relative humidity were the principal contributors to second component with 0.9902, 0.9722 and 0.6030, respectively. In the second analysis climatic data and pest population turned out to be of major contribution since they have been associated with pest population. Results demonstrated the formation of three well defined zones in the province.
