Revisión bibliográfica sobre Lantana camara L., una amenaza para la ganadería
Main Article Content
Abstract
A bibliographical revision of Lantana camara L was carried. This weed belongs to Verbenaceae family (Verbenoideae subfamily). It is a perennial woody bush which is considered one of the 10 most noxious weeds of the world, and it infests millions of cultivated lands hectares, pastures, roads and unproductive lands, being more distributed in the Caribbean area, Oriental Africa, Sur África, Southern Asia, Australia and the Pacific Islands. The expansion of dense heaths is the result of invasion which alter the ecosystem and, at the same, time cause damages to human and animals given to their leaves, stems and fruits are highly toxic to livestock. Convencional methods as mechanic, physical and chemical have been used for their control, but the economic and environmental unsuitabilities of their applications have been demonstrated; in that case is necessary the search of biological regulators that allow to keep weed populations under economic damages levels keeping in mind environment preservation.
