Contaminación por plaguicidas en la ciénaga de zapata y su zona costera
Main Article Content
Abstract
Since end 1994 to middle of 1997 was determined contamination by pesticide and PCBs in water, soil, sediment and concentrator organisms (bivalves) at surroundings places and principal drainage canal of Cienaga de Zapata; also in coastal zone near to the east mouth in the coast. During the first half of investigation, sampling was done trimestrally. Frequency was extended in second half. Pesticides determined were organophosphorus and organochlorine, besides PCBs.
Analytical methods used in these determinations were those recommended by Marine Environmental Study Laboratory of IAEA, except for water samples. In this samples were used traditional and extraction in solid phase methods. Is not detected residues of organophosporus in the sampling were done in four types of samples analyzed. Neither the presence of PCBs was detected, at least over respective detection limits. However, were detected considerable concentrations of DDT and its metabolites in all substrates, in all sampling. Relation DDE/DDT indicate that presence of DDT in that zone it must be to the application made with much anteriority to the period when was the investigation executed. This investigation was coordinated by COMARNA (actually part of CITMA) and partially financed for PNUMA, with the program CEPPOL-pesticides.
