Relación entre el contenido de nutrientes en suelo y raíces de banano (Musa aaa) con el peso de raíces y número de nematodos

Abstract
The relationship between soil or root nutrient content with root weight and number of banana root (Musa AAA) nematodes was studied through analyzing commercial results from 1997-2002, comparing paired samples from a punctual sampling and assessing 12 successive samplings within two farms. The soil or roots nutrient values were correlated with total and functional root weight and number of nematodes in the banana roots. As Ca (r = 0.86; P = 0.0248), P (r = 0.81; P = 0.0502) and Mn (r = 0.89; P = 0.0169) soil content increased the number of Helicotylenchus spp. increased in the roots. Increments in soil organic matter (r = –0.89; P = 0.0169) decreased Helicotylenchus spp. numbers in the roots. Radopholus similis and total nematodes in roots, and root content did not correlate with any of the soil variables studied. As Fe and Cu in the root increased, the number of R. similis (r = –0.64; P = 0.0008, r = -0.70; P = 0.0001) and total nematodes (r = –0.65; P = 0.0006, r = –0.66; P = 0.0005) decreased, respectively. Increments in root Mn content decreased R. similis (r= -0.80; P< 0.0001) and total nematodes (r = -0,74; P < 0,0001) numbers. As root Ca content increased, numbers of R. similis (r= -0.60; P= 0.0019) and total nematodes (r = –0.57; P = 0.0037) decreased. More research including the effect of plant nutrition on the number and damage of nematodes and the effect of nematodes on nutrients up take is suggested.
