Clave ilustrada de Estigmene acrea (Lepidoptera: Arctiidae): notas de su etología en el cultivo de la soya (Glycine max)
Main Article Content
Abstract
An illustrated key of Estigmene acrea Drury (Lepidoptera: Arctiidae) is offered and its behavior in soybean plantations of Conquista variety in the Seeds Provincial Enterprise of Matanzas province is discussed. Arctiidae fauna present was sampled using a horizontal cloth, and under laboratory conditions E. acrea larvae were reared and life stages were described by means of a stereoscopic microscopic. Larvae have body segments densely covered of soft setae which are longer towards the end of the body; remarkable changes in the quetotaxia and external morphology of larvae instars were found. E. acrea appeared since April, initial attacks were found gregariously on soybean field border and larvae populations higher than 1 insect per plant were detected causing damages on foliage. The results of this paper contribute to the farmers training and to know the risk of this insect pest for soybean.
