Escala logarítmica diagramática de severidad de la antracnosis (Colletotrichum gloeosporioides) en papaya (Carica papaya)
Main Article Content
Abstract
Anthracnose caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides represents the fungal disease that affects the quality of papaya fruits in postharvest. A study was realized with the objective of develops and validates a logarithmic scale for severity diagrammatic papaya anthracnose pathosystem. This was inoculated with 130 conidia papaya fruits C. gloeosporioides at concentration of 1 x 106 conidia per mL. The inoculated fruits when ripe expressed different degrees of severity, which was estimated using computer programs. Subsequently, each face photographed fruit and some images with different degrees of damage were projected to a group of 18 inexperienced evaluators to estimate the severity scale developed previously. The data generated by each evaluator were subjected to a simple linear regression analysis. It generated a scale consisted of six classes, covering fruit without damage to fruits with the highest severity calculated. Precision range varied from 0.66 to 0.81 and accuracy from 0.78 to 0.95, however, precision and accuracy were improved or at least maintained during the second evaluation. The logarithmic scale generated for papaya pathosystem anthracnose, can be used as a reliable tool, it is easy to use, is applicable to a wide range of conditions and further provides reproducible, rapid and accurate.
