Consumo foliar de larvas de Estigmene acrea (Lepidoptera: Arctiidae) sobre tres variedades de soya (Glycine max)
Main Article Content
Abstract
Foliate consumption per day of Estigmene acrea Drury larvae (Lepidoptera: Arctiidae) on three Cuban soybean varieties was evaluated under laboratory conditions. Foliate consumption of fourth larvae instar was studied; Incasoy (IS) -1, IS-27 and IS-36 leave rectangular sections of 2500 mm2 were placed as food. Area measurations were carried out daily using a picture digitalizer and the software Ilwis 2.0. E. acrea larvae showed high voracity and consumed 1492.3 mm2 of soybean foliage daily; the highest foliate consumption was found on IS-36 variety with defoliations of 1899.4 mm2 and the smallest consumption was found on IS-27 with value of 951.0 mm2 showing significant statistical differences between them. Food consumption of insect and antixenosis mechanisms in IS-27 are discussed.
