Abstract

Between the predators mites are very important the members of the family Stigmaeidae then feed of other mite and insects. These mites live in or on soil, grass, leaf, mulch, lichen, bark trees, crevices in rock and leaf cavities, and a few of them are parasitic on phlebotomine flies. To the moment any study of this family has not been made in Cuba and Agistemus tucumanensis González-Rodríguez and genus Eryngiopus is the only informed. The aim of this work was to upgrade the knowledge of this family and to inform new record in our country. The acarological collections of Instituto de investigaciones de Sanidad Vegetal, Laboratorio Central de Cuarentena Vegetal and Laboratorio Provincial de Sanidad Vegetal of Villa Clara province and the biological material mounted in Hoyer medium belonging to Cuban species were consulted. Agistemus floridanus González-Rodríguez, Eustigmaeus segnis (Koch), Ledermuelleriopsis spinosa Wood, Storchia pacificus (Summers) and Zetzellia sp. are reported for the first time.
