<dc:description xml:lang="en">In the establishment of the new agricultural model in which Cuba is engaged, one of the most urgent tasks is to find ways to reduce the use of synthetic pesticides for the management of pests. One of these alternatives is biological control, which, besides reducing the environmental impact on agricultural activity, allows agricultural sustainability. Among the methods of biological control, is the use of Trichoderma harzianum Rifai A-34 as a fungicide, for its antagonistic activity against phytopathogens. It is produced in solid state, static liquid and two-phase liquid-solid fermentation. In our country, sugarcane bagasse and rice rind are used for its production. In this work agroindustrial residues of good availability and low cost were used: white pine sawdust and beer bran. Besides supporting the fungus for its growth, these substrates provide the necessary nutrients for its proper development. These residuals are potential sources of contamination, so their use preserves the integrity of the environment. Microbiological purity (%), viability by germinative tube (%), concentration (cells • g of substrate-1) and antagonism against Fusarium oxysporum Cooke were tested and the quality control was guaranteed. Trichoderma harzianum Rifai A-34 significantly increased by 34% the count of conidia on white pine sawdust and beer bran compared to Trichoderma harzianum Rifai A-34 produced on sugarcane bagasse enriched with rice rind. It is concluded that these substrates can be used as alternatives for the mass production of Trichoderma harzianum Rifai A-34.</dc:description>
