En la provincia de Las Tunas, desde la campaña 2018-2019, en áreas de los municipios de Jesús Menéndez, Puerto Padre, Manatí, Majibacoa y Las Tunas, se comenzó a observar en el cultivo de tabaco plantas con síntomas de pérdida de dominancia apical, manchas necróticas en las hojas, necrosis en las venas de las hojas apicales y basales, muerte de las plantas, y cuando se ven afectadas en las primeras etapas se manifiesta una deformación completa del ápice, similar a los causados por Tomato chlorotic spot virus (TCSV). Se realizaron inoculaciones mecánicas en las plantas indicadoras Nicotiana glutinosa, L., N. tabacum, L. var Criollo 98 y Datura stramonium, L. var. Stramonium, para confirmar la presencia de Orthotospovirus y TCSV. Las muestras que mostraron síntomas se analizaron por RT-PCR utilizando cebadores genéricos y específicos para TCSV. Las técnicas de diagnóstico utilizadas corroboraron la presencia del género Orthotospovirus y la especie TCSV. Este trabajo constituye el primer informe de la presencia en la provincia de Las Tunas de plantas de tabaco infectadas con TCSV. The genus Orthotospovirus belongs to the family Tospoviridae, order Bunyaviridae and It comprises 11 species recognized by the International Committee of virus taxonomy. In the province Las Tunas, from the 2018-2019 campaign in areas of the municipalities Jesús Menéndez, Puerto Padre, Manatí, Majibacoa and Las Tunas, began to be observed in the cultivation of tobacco, plants with symptoms of loss of apical dominance, necrotic spots on the leaves, necrosis in the veins of the apical and basal leaves, death of the plants when they are affected in early stages and complete deformation of the apex, similar to those caused by TCSV. Mechanical inoculations were performed to the indicator plants Nicotiana glutinosa, L., N. tabacum, L. var Criollo 98 and Datura stramonium, L. var. Stramonium to confirm the presence of Orthotospovirus and TCSV, the samples that showed symptoms, were analyzed by RT-PCR using generic primers and those specific for TCSV. The techniques of diagnoses used corroborated the presence of the genus Orthotospovirus and the species TCSV. This work constitutes the first report of the presence in the Las Tunas province of TCSV infected tobacco plants.
